The first race of the World Cup in freestyle kayaking was started on Thursday evening. The band United Heads made the paddlers dancing and the party went on till deep night.
Three Czech K1M paddlers made it from the Friday preliminaries to the quarterfinals : Jan Bubník, Jan Špindler and Štěpán Vohradský.
Ondra Křivánek, our only junior, ride nicely and ended up on the 18th place – congrats! Neither girls paddled bad. Two of them made it to the semifinals: Lenka Novotná and Petra Druckerová.

Absolutely awesome were Czech C1 paddlers. The three of them took the first three places in preliminaries in this order: 1st Jakub Micka, 2nd Štěpán Fiedler and 3rd Lukáš Červinka.
Stepan Vohradsky, the only Czech from the category K1M, who made it to the the semifinals, will fight tonight for his move up to the tomorrow finals. The K1M semifinal will be at night with the illumination.

Hold your thumb for all Czech paddlers, who will compete in tomorrow finals, which will start at midday on the salom course in Prague – Troja. Then there will be a party with bands (CBM 23 - Contra Bonos Mores 23 and FAST FOOD) after the annoucement of the results.

Seminar meeting of judges

Support of playspot in Pilsen

The Czech Republic has several good playspots as the one in Prague or Sopotnice. But it is still not enough, as freestyle is getting more and more popular. Unfortunately Pilsen, hometown of the greatest Czech rider Jakub Nemec, has nothing but flatwater.
After years of effort we have finally obtained a building permit for a new playspot. Spot will be built in the center of Pilsen and hopefully soon will offer a great place for freestyle sessions.
Currently we are trying to gather the money need for realization of this project. During the competition, you can check out more details in the main tent where you can support this project.

Judges Seminar Prague

The seminar will start on Monday, August 11th, 12:00 (noon) at the Water Center. That’s the building by the Troja whitewater course.

Jutta Kaiser, freestyle Worldchampion 2005 and certified sports teacher, will lead you thru the technical side of the seminar. She has a longtime experience in judging international events including the Worlds 2007.

Prague and surrounding of Troja

Prague, the capitol, is the biggest city of the Czech republic. This historical metropolis lies on the river Vltava in the middle of Bodemia. It is an administrative centre. There is also a seat of the goverment, the President of the Czech republic, the archbishop of the Prague archdiocese , who is the formal leader of Catholics in this country, and the other leaders of religion comunnities. Prague has an amazing magic due to its interesting pastness. It is known as a city of thousand towers thanks to many churches built there.
The capitol was founded in 11th century. At presents it is spread out on 496 km2 and has about 1,2 mil. inhabitants.

Prague is worldwide acknowledged as one of the most beautiful city in the World. No wonder that most of the visitors is fascinated by the dominant of Prague - The Prague Castle. This largest castle complex in the world is a listed building by UNESCO. It is still used by goverment and the President, who really lives there.
We definitely recomanded you to visit this castle as well as the Old Town Hall with clock tower called Orloj. Make sure you come to this clock tower at full hour. You should not leave the Old Town square without a small walk around. Then you can make your way to Charles bridge ( Karluv most) which is not more than 15 minutes away. This bridge is decorated with 30 mostly baroque statues. There is a gorgeous view of Prague castle from Charles bridge.
There are many places to be visited in Prague. Among of all we can mention St. Vitus Cathedral ( Katedrala sv. Vita), Old Jude Town, Wenceslav Square, National Theatre,…etc

Traveling
You can travel by mass city transportation. More at dpp.cz/en.
We recomend you to buy a full-day ticket (one day: 100CZK, three days: 330CZK, five days: 550CZK) for the city sightseeing.
If you travel there just for a dinner, concert or a visit, so only one way there and one back, you should buy a ticket for 26CZK/ one way/ or 18CZK for short way.

The closest street car station from the slalom course is a station Trojska. Make your way up the stream to the bridge and turn left. Then follow the tramlines.
The closest Underground station is on the lane C station Nadrazi Holesovice. Again you will make your way up the stream to the bridge. Then cross the river by the street car bridge and follow the tramlines under the viaduct. The Underground station is in a large building on the left side. Watch for the red colour “C” there.

If you want more info about Prague, travel fares, or so go to prague.cz or wikipedia.org. You can also ask anyone in info centre at the slalom course.

Surrounding of Troja

The slalom course is situated in Prague 7, Troja. There are many possibilities of accomodation which you can found on our web site cnawr.cz. It is a residential part of the city. Nearby is large Prague Zoo zoopraha.cz and a botanical garden botanicka.cz.

There is also an exhibitation ground Vystaviste Praha-Holesovice incheba.cz with a possibilitiy of swimming pool and a neighbouring park Stromovka with its nice quite atmosphere. You can also visit a Boulder Bar across the street from the exhibitation ground boulder.cz.

Shopping possibilities:
Shop with groceries - street Trojská, bus station “Kovárna”, under the slalom course, when you stay under the walk bridge, turn right, in the corner is shop.
Supermarket BILLA - street Argentinska, not far away from Nadrazi Holesovice
Shopping Centre Letnany - Drive out of the slalom course back to the motorway bridge, then drive under the bridge and take first exit right, up to the bridge on the motorway R8. Drive until the exit Letnany. Then follow the sights “Nakupni centrum”
